Getting to Casa de Campo: Airports, Transfers and Arrival Tips

Casa de Campo is one of the easier Caribbean resorts to reach. It has an international airport just minutes away, and two of the Dominican Republic’s busiest airports are within about an hour by road. Getting to Casa de Campo mostly comes down to choosing the airport that suits your flights, then arranging a transfer.

Getting to Casa de Campo: the three airports

• La Romana International Airport (LRM): the resort describes it as about 10 minutes from check-in. It handles direct and seasonal international flights as well as private aircraft.
• Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ): about 50 minutes by road, according to the resort. It is the busiest airport in the Dominican Republic and has the widest choice of routes.
• Santo Domingo (SDQ): also quoted by the resort at about 50 minutes, though traffic can add time. The resort also mentions helicopter transfers from Santo Domingo to its heliport.

Choosing an airport

La Romana is the simplest arrival when a flight fits your dates, particularly in high season. Punta Cana usually offers more routes and frequencies, which can help families or groups flying in from different cities. The resort’s arrival page puts La Romana International Airport (LRM) five minutes from check-in, with a transfer of about 10 minutes, and quotes 50 minutes by road from both Punta Cana (PUJ) and Santo Domingo (SDQ), plus a helicopter option from Santo Domingo to the resort heliport. The tourism board describes the Oscar de la Renta Highway from PUJ to La Romana as under an hour, so the estimates agree for a daytime run. Transfers and cars

Most villa guests book a private transfer through their villa or the resort. Car rental and private drivers are available at the airports, and the drive follows main highways, including the Autovía del Coral from the Punta Cana side. Once inside the resort, golf carts are the usual way to get around, so many guests find a rental car unnecessary.

Before you fly: entry requirements

The Dominican Republic requires foreign passengers on commercial flights to complete a free electronic entry and exit form, known as the e-ticket, at eticket.migracion.gob.do. The official tourism site says it can be completed as soon as you have your flight details, and that private flights are exempt. It also sets out passport validity rules and notes that a standard tourist stay is up to 30 days, with a fee for longer stays. Check the current rules for your nationality before travel.

The tourism board’s entry page, read on 17 September 2026, adds detail worth noting. The e-ticket covers commercial flights only; arrivals by private flight, non-commercial vessel, ferry or cruise ship do not complete it, which matters for anyone reaching the marina by yacht. Migración describes the form as free, open around the clock and taking about five minutes. The general rule is a passport valid for six months, but until 31 December 2026 nationals of the EU, the UK, Canada, the United States, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador may enter on a passport that is simply valid and in force. A stay beyond 30 days incurs a fee on departure on a sliding scale.

Arriving by yacht

The Marina at Casa de Campo accommodates yachts up to 250 feet and publishes its VHF channel and draft on the resort website. Contact the marina well ahead of arrival to arrange a berth.

La Romana airport: routes and private aviation

La Romana’s scheduled service is seasonal and changes year to year, so check the current timetable rather than assuming a route exists. The airport’s news pages record weekly summer 2025 routes from Lisbon and Madrid with World2Fly and Iberojet, running between June and late September or October. An April 2026 release says the airport led the country in private aircraft arrivals, and it offers private flight handling; MSC Cruises plans to homeport a ship in La Romana from 16 November 2026.
