Casa de Campo is a gated resort community of about 7,000 acres on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic, just outside La Romana. Inside its gates are a hotel, well over a thousand private villas, three golf courses by Pete Dye, a marina styled after Portofino and Altos de Chavón, a stone village above the Chavón River.
It is one of the easier Caribbean resorts to reach, with La Romana airport minutes away and Punta Cana and Santo Domingo within about an hour. Most visitors come for golf, staffed villas and a secure, self-contained setting. Our guides explain how it all works.
