Reading the website

When you request a page or image, the hosting infrastructure and Cloudflare process technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, request time, browser information and, where supplied, the referring page. We use this information to deliver the website, maintain it and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare provides content delivery and security services.

The website runs on WordPress. Public account registration is disabled and comments are closed. Editor login and authentication cookies are used for people who administer the website.

Analytics is paused

Google Analytics collection through this website was paused on September 17, 2026. Our pages no longer load the Google Analytics tag. We will update this notice and put appropriate privacy controls in place before restarting analytics.

Before the pause, Google Analytics collected page and device information through its tag and cookies, including _ga and _ga_S1YP0J3WN1. Pausing collection does not itself delete previously collected information or remove cookies already stored in your browser. You can remove those cookies using your browser settings. Information previously collected remains subject to the applicable Google Analytics retention settings.

Browser preferences and external resources

If you choose an appearance setting, your browser stores that preference locally under tdf-appearance. WordPress may also use browser session storage to remember emoji display support and may request emoji images from WordPress.org. External resource requests reveal technical connection information, including an IP address, to the service receiving the request.

Cloudflare obscures email addresses on our pages to reduce automated harvesting. A script makes the address readable in your browser. Following an email link opens your chosen email application; it does not submit a website contact form.

Email and correspondence

There is no reader contact form. Email sent to [email protected] is handled through Google Workspace. We receive your email address, message and any information or attachments you choose to send. Please do not send identification documents, payment details or other sensitive information unless we have specifically agreed on a suitable method.

We use correspondence to respond to questions, handle corrections and address privacy requests. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list. Messages in our Google Workspace mailbox remain until we manually delete them. Operational email sent by WordPress is delivered through Brevo.

Retention and backups

Operational records are retained for site administration and security. Server backups run daily and currently have no scheduled deletion: backup copies are retained indefinitely. Information included in those backups may therefore remain after it has been removed from the working website. We cannot promise that deleting a record from the active system immediately removes all backup copies.

Email, hosting records, backups and previously collected analytics information have different retention arrangements. There is no single deletion period covering every system.

Service providers and linked websites

We use hosting infrastructure, Cloudflare, Google Workspace and Brevo to operate the publication. Google also holds analytics information collected before the pause. These services may process information in countries other than your own, according to their service arrangements and privacy terms.

Links to rental businesses and other websites take you to separate services with their own privacy practices. The Destination File does not collect booking payments. Ownership connections are disclosed beside recommendations of connected rental businesses.

Privacy questions and requests

Contact [email protected] to ask about information relating to you, or to request access, correction or deletion. Include enough context for us to locate the relevant correspondence or record, without sending unnecessary sensitive information.

The rights available to you and the requirements for responding depend on the law that applies to your circumstances. We will assess requests under applicable requirements and may need to verify that the requester is entitled to the information. Retention required for legitimate operational or legal purposes, and the backup arrangements described above, may affect what can be deleted.
