Verbier is not only a winter resort. When the snow melts, the lifts reopen for hikers and mountain bikers, the valley turns green, and the village hosts one of Europe’s best-known classical music festivals. A summer stay is quieter and often better value than peak ski weeks. Verbier in summer is a different resort from its winter self.
Verbier in summer: when the lifts run
The See Verbier resort guide lists summer 2026 lift operations in the Verbier area from 27 June to 25 October, with the bike park opening on weekends from early June and daily from early July. Dates vary each year, so check the lift company’s current schedule.
Arriving by train and where to swim
For summer 2026 the lift company lists a weekend Verbier Express direct from Geneva Airport to Le Châble from 27 June to 13 September, departing 06.30 and 08.30 and returning 15.57 and 16.57, with 70 per cent off the fare and 30 per cent off a pedestrian day pass. The Le Châble gondola runs 5.10 am to 11.55 pm. Swimming is limited while the sports centre is rebuilt: a temporary outdoor pool with a children’s splash zone runs 20 June to 6 September 2026 at CHF 8 for adults and CHF 6 for children, and the Mondzeu indoor pool opens 12.00–19.00 in July and August 2026. Hiking
Lifts give easy access to high trails with views across the Val de Bagnes and toward the Grand Combin and Mont Blanc massifs. Routes range from gentle walks near the village to demanding high-mountain hikes. Check the weather, carry layers and water, and start early to avoid afternoon storms.
Mountain biking
Verbier is a major mountain-biking destination. The lift company lists nine downhill and 23 enduro trails in the area. The bike park suits riders with the right skills and protective equipment; e-bikes and guided rides make the wider trail network accessible to more visitors.
High mountain experiences
Mont Fort, at 3,330 meters, offers a panoramic view that the lift company says takes in peaks including the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. The resort also operates the Mont 4 Zipline from the summit area, described as one of the highest in Europe. Check operating dates and conditions before going up.
The Verbier Festival
Founded in 1994, the Verbier Festival brings international classical musicians and young artists to the village each summer for concerts and an academy. The festival lists its next summer edition from 15 July to 1 August 2027, with ticket presales starting in November 2026. Accommodation near the village fills quickly during festival weeks, so book early.
Wellness and slow days
Summer is also a good time for spa days, long lunches on terraces and walks through the valley villages. The pace is relaxed, and restaurants that are packed in winter are easier to book.
